The 737-800 is a stretch version of the 737 Next Generation of short to medium range, narrow-body jet airliners. It replaced the older 727-200 and the discontinued McDonnell Douglas MD-80 on most North American fleets. The -800 entered service in 1998 and competes in the same class with the Airbus A320.
WestJet Airlines is a Canadian airline that began operations in February of 1996 out of Calgary as a low-cost alternative for air service to locations in Western Canada. Since that time, the carrier has grown to become an international airline, second-largest to Air Canada. Their mainline fleet consists of 117 aircraft, 100 of which are Boeing's 737 Next Generation aircraft. The airlines hasn't really changed its teal-and-blue colored livery since its first flights, but they added a stylized maple leag to their long-haul 767 aircraft in 2015. The airline received such positive response to the new logo that they plan to add it to their whole fleet.
