Prior to the battle for Berlin the ISU-152 had proven extremely successful in the capturing of Budapest and Konigsberg. One use for the ISU-152 was to support other armored vehicles and had the ability to destroy German Tigers and Panthers. The ISU-152 had no turret and was slow to turn the entire vehicle and slow to reload but if it got the first shot there was never a need for a second. The ISU-152 occasionally was used as self-propelled artillery but its starring role in Berlin was destroying buildings and reinforced defenses.
