The Series II Land Rover was introduced in 1958 and was manufactured until 1961, when it was replaced by the IIA. Whereas the Series I had flat sides, the Series II can immediately be identified with the rounded side panels, which allowed for the wider track of the vehicle. Coming in Short and Long Wheelbases with numerous body combinations including fixed roofs, canvas roofs, open tops, station wagons etc.

The 44th Home Counties Infantry Division was a TA division formed in 1908 and its history of active service includes both the First World War and WWII. The Division lasted for another 20 years afterwards until disbanded in 1961. Registered as a military vehicle 25 CL 51, our model relates to the interim period leading up to the Division's disbanding and the Albuhera crest seen on the sides of our model truck also associates it with Albuhera Barracks, named after the victorious battle won by the Duke of Wellington.

Decorated in drab green with a cream roof and drab green wheel inserts, this long wheel base station wagon features the colourful crest on both side doors and also carries the military identification markings on the front wings and on either side of the rear door. It is an interesting addition to a post war military line-up recalling a period before the swallowing up of many regiments and divisions, each with a fascinating campaign history.
