The Stearman Aircraft Company became a subsidiary of Boeing in 1934 with more than 10,600 built in the 1930s and 1940s. These aircraft became a primary trainer for both the USAAF and USN. The USAAF labeled the aircraft the PT-13 and PT-17 while the USN called it the NS-1 and N2S. The Stearman was commonly called the "Yellow Peril" referring to the bright yellow paint used on the majority of these aircraft. This Stearman was Bu.No 39123/73 and one of the 1,875 delivered to the USN.
