The Su-27UB is a two-seat combat trainer variant of the Su-27. It retains the flight and combat capabilities of the single-seat Su-27S with minimal design changes other than accommodating for a second seat. As a result, the Su-27UB was chosen as the basis for the prototypes leading to the Su-27PU, or Su-30.
